Quotes
“Since moving to Touchmark, I have felt more safe and secure. The staff is very helpful, and you can tell they enjoy working here.”
“As I walked around the building on Touchmark Drive and the north wind was blowing and the leaves were falling from the trees, I thought about how nice it is to live at beautiful Touchmark. The coming of winter with ice and snow does not leave me with a lonely feeling of days ahead with cabin fever. Here I can be cozy in my apartment sitting by the fire, or I can wander through the spacious building with things to do. There is always the Hoyle Room with cards or games to play, the exercise room with the opportunity to keep walking on the treadmill and forget the icy sidewalks, the exercise classes, the craft room with opportunities to try out new skills, church services in the chapel, a book or magazine to read by the fire in the library, or a group to converse with in the living room or dining room. There are planned activities with something to interest everyone and opportunities to take the Touchmark bus for shopping or entertainment. An enjoyable activity is the gathering in the lobby with an extremely pleasant staff and residents, all of whom become extended family. There is no need to be lonely, even though the north wind will be blowing. Home is where the heart is so home is Touchmark.”
“How fortunate we are in this community to have such an attractive and caring place to live as Touchmark. The staff and residents are friendly and kind. After living in Appleton in our two-story, four-bedroom home for 32 years the move for us was easier than expected.”
“After looking at other places, I chose to live at Touchmark after seeing how nice and clean it is. ... All the people are so friendly. Also the help. I enjoy all the activities—exercising, bingo, and crafts.”
“Nearly three years ago, my husband and I moved into this new retirement home, Touchmark in Appleton, Wisconsin. Our four children (two live in Appleton) suggested and advised us to make this move. They were so right.
One month after arriving at Touchmark, my husband had a debilitating stroke. Our lives changed dramatically. Today he lives in a fine nursing home and has excellent care.
Now, I’m living alone, but I do not feel lonely. My nice apartment, with big windows and a fireplace, offers me the comfort and security I want.
Touchmark offers its residents many ways to meet and make new friends. There are craft classes, computer classes, exercise classes, and religious gatherings. All kinds of games, from bingo to bridge, are offered. In spring, the residents can plant and take care of their own garden plots.
Life for seniors at Touchmark offers quality and happiness. It is truly a fine place for seniors to enjoy their later years.”
“Just a few days ago we got back from a lovely day out where the transportation … took us out for a lovely day to see the fall colors and [enjoy] a picnic.
Everyone here (or just about everyone) looked at other places, but gladly settled here at Touchmark. It doesn’t take that long to feel ‘settled’ in here. The staff is so cordial in helping you feel welcome, and after looking at a few other places, I knew immediately when I walked in that this was ‘it’—the place is bright and cheery-looking [and] nicely decorated ...”
“Broad vistas; well-tended lawns and flowers and shrubbery; wide, carpeted, well-lighted halls; beautiful, restful lobby; bright, airy apartments; and a friendly staff make Touchmark a very appealing retirement home for us.
The activities here provide us with many opportunities to meet and interact with the other residents.
We especially enjoy the trips out to lunch, attending the performances at the Performing Arts Center, and the sightseeing trips via bus from Touchmark.”
“When people ask where I live, my reply is at Touchmark. They raise an eyebrow, as they think of this as an upscale premier place for retirees. It is! I tell them it’s my ‘country club.’ We don’t have a golf course; however, we have far more: assisted or independent living, three meals offered daily, apartments cleaned weekly, beauty salon/barber shop, banking, ideal small store, well-equipped exercise room, whirlpool tub, massage services, numerous activities, variety of card games, billiards/pool, bingo, crafts, etc. Plus bus services for swimming, medical visits, shopping, off-site eating, events, and selected entertainment offerings. The friendly staff and nursing services should not be overlooked; nor the neighboring and kind-hearted residents.”
“After checking many independent living facilities [to see] if they allowed pets, I found only a couple others, and after taking tours of one other and not caring for that, I made an appointment and came here. As we went through the dining room, my guide saw the menu and said there was liver and onions for dinner. I told her that was my husband’s favorite. She said to bring him out for dinner. After further negotiations (that I could donate my books and they would bring our rhubarb plants out here), my husband agreed, and we have been happily ensconced here two years.”
